The End Of The World

Dear The World,

Sadly my laptop ended in late December (as predicted by the Mayans) and I've had to reinstall my operating system (twice now) in an attempt to get it working again. So far I have failed and lost a few unfinished songs in the process.

So until a kind benefactor donates me about two grand for a new computer or I magically get my dead laptop fixed for free I've pretty much been forced to give up anything creative for the foreseeable future.

Laters,

Lt Meat

Media Blackout!

Well,

My computer is practically dead. I have a blockage of Project 52 tracks to render off and upload to the net, but my weaken old MacBook can't currently handle the task. Until I've sorted it out please enjoy this phonepainting of Neil Diamond.

My next album is a guitar bashing noise rockathon entitled 'Beautiful Love Songs @ Neil Diamond'. It's a follow up/companion piece to my 2009 album 'Beautiful Love Songs For Neil Diamond'. Hopefully out Spring 2013.

Until then Project 52 must be finished as the world didn't end this morning.

I'll try and be more proactive on here too.

Over and out.

Project 52 - new tracks!

Dear the World,

This is actually an iPhone publishing test. Just a quick word to say that there's a load of new music up on Project 52. Check out http://www.steakrecords.bandcamp.com for all free downloads.

It's up to 33 tracks now and we're coming into September which is my guitar-based month! I hope you enjoy the new tracks. I'm also working on an abstract animated music video, I'm making it on my iPhone almost exclusively when I sit down for a number TWO. I hope I'll get it finished soon.

Cheers!

Dear the internet,

Here is Week 25 of Project 52,

This song kind of sprouted out of the concept of a Game of Thrones computer game that is pretty much exactly the same as the Chaos Engine (that I used to have on my Commodore Amiga). I've been watching a lot of You Tube videos of old Amiga games recently, including Chaos Engine, Speedball 2, Turrican II and Ninja Spirit which had some awesome music in my opinion. I'm working on a gangster rap tribute to Ninja Spirit as we speak. It's weird.

Until next time (which will be Week 26 and the halfway point of the project).

Bore dda! Here's Week 23 of Project 52. This is a sort of cheat, it's quite an old song that never really went anywhere from being a Reason instrumental. I've finished it off for the project so I hope some of you enjoy it! Download it for free or pay what you want at Steak Records Bandcamp

Until next time! Over and out Lt Meat

Video of the day!!! and Week 21 and 22 of Project 52

Dear the internet,

Here's a new video from probably one of the only bands that currently still exists in Newport that's worth paying any attention to. They're lovely guys, this song is gorgeous and I fancy the video.

Next up, here are Weeks 21 and 22 from my rolling musical project 'Project 52'.

Enjoy!!!

Week 19 of Project 52 - 'I Love My Guitar'

Dear the internet,

I apologise for being away for so long, but I'll be honest I couldn't be arsed to update you.

Anyway I'm bored so here's Week 19 of Project 52. It's dedicated to my dead Fender Mustang and every stillborn song I've ever written in my head and then forgotten.

Hang about, I'll be back soon.

Project 52 - Weeks 13 and 14!!!!

Hello Internet!

Well, my not so ambitious musical project is now starting to test my ability to have a crap full time job, be a skateboarder, make food to eat, edit awesome music videos and skateboarding videos and, last but not least, make a song a week. I've had to get my act together this week and churn out two songs to catch up (which wasn't really the idea, I know). This now means I have tomorrow night to write this weeks song to properly catch up. I think it might end up as a badly recorded acoustic love song about my eternal lust for Burger King.

Anyway here's Week 13....

and here's Week 14.....

I'm off now to drink fifty cups of song writing ability (eight Beer Speciales to be precise).

Over and out,

Lt Meat

PS The Men from Brooklyn are my current favourite band.

Weeks 11 and 12 of Project 52

Hi,

Firstly I apologise for almost missing a week of Project 52. We've had nice weather and I've been slightly drunk on my skateboard a lot and couldn't fit everything in. The first song 'Horizon' was made in Logic Pro and is a taster of a much bigger song that I'm working on. The second song 'Call To Me' was also made in Logic, but with some live acoustic guitars and vocals. I'm not sure about the vocals (or the lyrics), but what the heck, it's done. I've been listening to a lot of Neutral Milk Hotel and Beach House recently and I think that this song is just a rip off of those two bands or the effect of their music swirling around in my head (which is a slightly nicer assessment).

Both tracks are free to download at the Steak Records Bandcamp page for free (or pay what you want). Project 52 has now permanently moved from my Girl Muscle bandcamp page to it's new permanent home at the Steak Records bandcamp, so don't forget to bookmark that page!!!

Project 52 - Week 9 - 'I'm Tired Of Jerks'

Nearly double figures!!!!!!

The weather is picking up a bit now, so I've been out more in the evenings and not made much music. As a result I nearly didn't get a song made this week. Thankfully I banged this little tune out on Thursday morning (thanks flexitime), I was going to keep it back for something special, but stuff it!

It's free to download at http://www.girlmuscle.bandcamp.com

Project 52 - Week 8 - 'The Rhythym'

Dear the internet,

Q - Why is the word 'rhythm' spelt wrong in Lt Meat's new song?

A - It technically isn't, it was the name of the synth patch used for the song and it kind of translated into some bad lyrics too and ended up becoming the name of the song, so shut up.

This track was made in Logic Pro with mostly Reason drums and some badly rhythmic synth bashing.

Project 52 - Week 7 - 'Money, Then Control'

Week 7 of Project 52.

This wasn't made specifically for the Project, it was intentionally made for a concept album about Newport's prime engineered landmark, the Transporter Bridge (I'll probably never finish this album anyway, it's been in gesticulation now for a few years).

Then, I got in my car to drive to Tescos after mixing the track and realised I've been listening exclusively to Daft Punk's 'Tron Legacy' soundtrack for weeks now in my green Renault Megane.........so I thought I'm better off giving this away rather than get sued by some french robots for copyright infringement.

Enjoy!

Project 52 - Week 4 - 'Solar Wind'

Hi blog reader,

This is the track for Week 4 from Project 52. This instrumental was made with Reason and Logic Pro. The guitars at the end of the track are BAD! I apologise for those, I'm realising how little I play the guitar now and when it comes to putting some tracks down to beef up an instrumental I'm struggling to play want I want. Hopefully throughout the project I'll get back into my guitar more and make some nice guitar based songs again.

Enjoy!

Project 52 - Weekly New Music - Week 3

Yes!

I still haven't managed to abandon my weekly music project and now it's Week 3! This is the most complete song I've posted so far. It's made in Reason and Logic and is the result of some drunk organ and guitar playing. I have no idea what the lyrics are about, they sort of popped into my head and fit the song.

New project - A Song A Week For 2012

Dear The Internet,

Since I was rather slack last year in the musical output department I've decided to start as I mean to go on this year with a project that will hopefully produce one new piece of music every week throught 2012, at least until the world ends or I run out of ideas or just give up or die unexpectedly. I have chosen the fairly boring name of 'Project 52'(for now at least). I haven't imposed any specific rules on myself, other than to release one piece of previously unreleased music every week on my Bandcamp page. It could be an instrumental piece, a complete new song, a finished old song, some soundtrack bits and pieces or whatever beeps and obscure sounds I can combine together to call 'music'. I might record it live, I might make it on my iphone, I might collaborate with other human beings or just work on my computer, but I will endeavor to release one new piece of music every week in some form. In many ways I hope the finished project might appear as a sort of audio journal of my year, who knows.

The first instrumental is unimaginatively titled 'New Years Day'. It wasn't written on new years day, I was in bed hungover until about 5pm and then I was not in bed, but still hungover. It's a fairly simple instrumental made in Logic Audio with some Kontakt 2 piano libraries and a Garritan Organ from Personal Orchestra. I kind of got sucked into the chord progression and just started messing about with a simple arrangement. It's nothing epic, but it's a start and my programming in Logic is a bit rusty at the moment.

I hope someone somewhere enjoys some of this music (even if it's just me). Click THIS LINK to get transported to the Project 52 page
